How to Book the Blue Lagoon at the Best Price

Four steps from picking the right admission tier to locking in a timed slot before it sells out.

  1. Choose Your Blue Lagoon Ticket

Pick the admission that suits you. Comfort includes lagoon access, the silica mud mask, a towel and a drink. Premium adds an extra mask, a robe and slippers, a sparkling-wine drink and a restaurant reservation. Both reach the same geothermal water.

  2. Reserve a Timed Entry Slot

The Blue Lagoon uses pre-booked timed entry and regularly sells out, so choose your date and arrival window in advance. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before your visit gives you flexibility if plans change.

  3. Book the Official Ticket Online

Reserve through GetYourGuide — the admission is sold by Blue Lagoon Iceland, the official operator. You get instant confirmation by email and a mobile voucher to scan at the door.

  4. Travel & Ease Into the Water

The lagoon is about a 20-minute drive from Keflavík Airport and roughly 45 minutes from Reykjavík; transfer tickets are available if you'd rather not drive. Check in with your voucher, then soak, mask and relax at the in-water bar. Note: access can be affected by volcanic activity near Grindavík — check the operator's current status before you travel.

Field Notes · Pricing

What the Blue Lagoon Really Costs

Comfort vs Premium, the price in your currency, what drives it up or down, and how to pay the least.

So, how much does the Blue Lagoon cost? The short answer: the standard Comfort admission starts around $145, the Premium upgrade around $168, and admission-with-transfer bundles from roughly $226 — while at the luxury end, the separate Retreat Spa experience (its own private lagoon and spa ritual) starts around $889. There is no separate “entry fee” on top — the ticket price is the admission, and even the cheapest Comfort ticket already includes the lagoon, the silica mud mask, a towel and a drink. The catch is that the Blue Lagoon uses demand-based, timed-entry pricing, so the exact figure you pay shifts with the date and time slot you choose — which is why the official site only shows it once you start booking. Below is the full picture, in your currency, with the live price one tap away.

These are from-prices for the official admission, sold by Blue Lagoon Iceland via GetYourGuide. Currency figures are approximate conversions of the booking price (rates move, and demand pricing means quieter slots can be cheaper) — the widget shows the exact live amount in your currency before you pay.

Why the Blue Lagoon costs what it does

A few things keep the price high — and explain why it swings:

  • Demand-based pricing. Like an airline, the Blue Lagoon charges more for popular slots (summer, late morning to mid-afternoon) and less for quieter ones (winter, early morning, late evening). The same Comfort ticket can differ by date.
  • Timed, capacity-capped entry. The lagoon limits how many people are in the water at once, so slots are finite and the headline experience stays uncrowded — you’re paying for that scarcity.
  • It’s all-in. Even the entry-level Comfort ticket bundles the mask, towel and a drink, so there’s no “cheap bare ticket” the way some attractions price it.

The cheapest way to visit the Blue Lagoon

You can meaningfully lower the cost without missing anything that matters — the water, the mask and the setting are identical across tiers:

  • Book the Comfort ticket, not Premium. Comfort includes everything that makes the Blue Lagoon the Blue Lagoon. Premium is a comfort upgrade (robe, second mask, sparkling wine), not a better lagoon.
  • Pick an off-peak slot. Early-morning, late-evening and winter dates are usually the lowest-priced — and the quietest.
  • Drive instead of bundling a transfer. If you have a rental car, the standalone Comfort ticket is cheaper than the admission-with-transfer bundle; there’s free parking on site, about 20 minutes from Keflavík Airport.
  • Visit on your airport day. The lagoon sits between Keflavík Airport and Reykjavík, so stopping on the way in or out turns the transfer cost into part of your journey rather than an extra trip.
  • Book ahead. Slots sell out and walk-up isn’t reliable; reserving early gets you the lower-priced windows before they’re gone.

Is the Blue Lagoon worth the money?

Honestly: it’s expensive, and it’s also the single image most people associate with Iceland — opaque silica-blue water steaming over black lava, a mud mask on your face, a drink at the in-water bar. If that’s on your list, the Comfort ticket delivers exactly that, and free cancellation up to 24 hours before takes the risk out of booking early. If you’re price-sensitive and just want a geothermal soak, Iceland has lower-cost alternatives — but none with the Blue Lagoon’s specific look and ritual. Book Comfort, pick an off-peak slot, and you get the icon without the Premium premium.

When you’re ready, check live Blue Lagoon availability and prices for your date, or read the full Blue Lagoon admission guide for what the ticket includes and how to get there.

What Visitors Say

5/5 from 5804 verified visitors

"I originally booked to go as early in the morning as I could, however due to the snow impacting my plans I changed to a later booking and went at the end of the day. The staff were so helpful with arranging this for me. And I’m so glad I did it this way! I saw the blue lagoon in the daylight with the beautiful creamy blue water, then witnessed sunset and enjoyed time surrounded by the dark, starry night sky as well. As it got later the steam got better and better which was great. I really enjoyed the whole experience! I just wish it had been more obvious that the cocktail slushy I ordered (thinking it was my free drink) was in fact an ‘upgrade’ with an additional cost."

Rebecca United Kingdom

"Perfect! one of the best things we did. We got there at 1PM and it was the best decision. When we left around 4PM the lagoon was full and less chill than when we arrived."

Giovanna Germany

"It was a great experience. The place looks recently renovated and we loved it."

Athanasia Greece

"Being in blue lagoon was a life time experience. Totally recommended ❤️"

Kelli Greece

"Blue Lagoon is a must when visiting Iceland. The staff were really nice and everything was very clean. We stoped by right after our arrival and watched the sunrise from the lagoon. The whole experience was very relaxing!"
